Miss Margaret Fletcher: This feisty lady is not a pilot and has no desire to be one. Widowed, she took a job at Mystic as a dispatcher and receptionist years back, and ended up buying the business after Henry Mistik died. Though she's pushing sixty, she runs the place with an iron fist occasionally sheathed in a velvet glove. Canny and sharp as a tack, she's also very loyal to her people as long as they're loyal to her. Everyone calls her Miss Margaret.

Chuck McCauley: Lanky and self-effacing, Chuck is Mystic's Chief Pilot. He runs the flight training, and keeps an eagle eye on his instructors. Chuck hates conflict and will attempt to avoid it as much as possible, preferring to manage people in a non-confrontational manner. He generally delegates unpleasant tasks, such as telling the new hire about some of the less savory aspects of her job. Chuck is an excellent pilot and very dedicated to his students. He is married and has a young son.

Harold 'Hap' Logan: Hap is a vampire, and has been one for about thirty years. He is also Mystic's chief mechanic. This isn't always easy for him since he must do his work at night, but he has several competent human assistants who keep things running during the day. He looks to be in his late forties or early fifties, and to all appearances is a rather skinny, dried-up fellow with a long mournful face. Hap has been employed by Mystic for a good twenty years, and though he never talks about his former life, he's a damn good mechanic, and his co-workers like and accept him.

Allison Ross: Tall, slender and 22, long ash-blonde hair usually in a ponytail, Allison is almost too pretty to be a tough, no-nonsense pilot. Almost. Recently she was hired as a co-pilot by Mystic's sister business, Silver Moon Aviation. Allison still instructs for Mystic when she's able, however. In addition to teaching, she also served as Mystic's resident witch, a niche that's since been filled by Jenny Curtiss. Allison is happy to help out her replacement, magically or not. Married to a first officer for Continental Express, Allison has her own sights set on the airlines.

Tom Drummond: Big, broad-shouldered and square-jawed, handsome Tom might've stepped off a Luftwaffe recruiting poster. Blue eyes and short-cropped blond hair complete the image, but in reality Tom is no Hitler youth. He's just a typical flight instructor: slightly arrogant, quick with a tacky remark, a bit goofy, and possessed of a huge appetite for free food and beer. He's also a genuinely good fellow who cares about his students. All of 24, Tom currently lives with his girlfriend Crystal, and hopes to be flying for the airlines within the next year or so.

Rob 'Woody' Forrest: Formerly of Alaska and then the Great Northwest, Rob instructs at Mystic these days. In his late thirties, he has worked as a bush pilot, ag pilot, pipeline patrol pilot, jump pilot, and freight dog--and tells numerous tales of his exploits, some of which might even be true. Rob is fairly close-mouthed about his past, but it is surmised that he has had some run-ins with the FAA. He keeps his nose clean nowadays, and is probably the most popular instructor at Mystic. Dark of hair and eye, with a loopy sense of humor, he's attractive in a rakish way.

Billy Byers: The newest instructor at Mystic until Jenny was hired, Billy is still finding his own wings. Black hair and a dark complexion hint at Mediterranean ancestry, and Billy works hard at keeping in shape; he's an avid jogger and bodybuilder. A mere 23, Billy is friendly and earnest and he tries very hard to keep everything by the book. He's also a devout Christian, though he rarely speaks of his faith at work. He is completely faithful to his long-time girlfriend Donna, and never joins in the risque banter of his co-workers.

Delbert Birdsall: Pudgy and balding, Delbert doesn't actually work at Mystic. He just hangs around there a lot. A mechanic, he owns his own business on the field, Real Good Mechanix. Delbert can often be found lounging around the Mystic Air lobby, scarfing free coffee and donuts, and sharing his generally pessimistic views on all and sundry.

Henry Mistik: Although Henry expired of lung cancer about ten years ago, he remains around to keep a ghostly eye on the airport he founded. Born Henry Miller (*not* the writer), Henry changed his surname as a teenager trying to break into vaudeville as a magician. The first time he saw an airplane, he abandoned that fledgling career to become a full-time pilot and mechanic. After various exploits as a barnstormer and airshow performer, Henry decided his real love was air racing. He bought a little land outside a growing town called Sanctuary, cleared a pasture, and Elysian Field was born. When he wasn't running the flight school he named Mystic Air, he was building racing planes and taking them around the country. Unsuccessful at that pursuit, Henry settled down at Elysian until his death. Rumors abound that he was actually a witch
