Character: Lord of Atlanta: Berenice, a master, approx. five hundred
years old, fled her native France ahead of the Inquisition, before she finally
took over Atlanta.
Appearance: Homely, with a plump, motherly seeming, which leads many
to underestimate her. Of those, the fortunate are dead. She hates Namir Al'Khalid
with the force of rejected love (he rejected her when she sought to steal
his power), and seeks to destroy him with the apparent support of the Death
Lord. She is able to summon and control alligators, a fact that surprised
her when she arrived in America. Her sarcastic laughter can flay the skin
from people with many tiny cuts.
