Brittany is the penultimate California blonde of a thousand centerfolds. The girl next door as idealized by Hugh Hefner. Clean-cut, china-doll face, yet strangely unmemorable features. She lacks that certain something that would make her truly beautiful. In other words, a soap opera Good Girl. Now that she has the money she wears only designer clothes--Donna Kaaren, Versace, Carolina Herera. She has drifted into hard-edged chic, losing some of the soft prettiness that was her stock in trade when she was human.

Personality: Conniving schemer. Manipulative, and good at it. Self-centered to the core, and assumes everyone else is just pretending to be nice. Definitely some sort of personality disorder, probably narcissistic--she's not quite a full-blown sociopath. She's smart and devious and knows when to play nice for the crowd. She's had a lot of practice. Don't trust this one any further than you can throw her. She makes Scarlett O'Hara look like a schoolgirl when she's intent on getting her way.

Abilities: Expert with vampire glamour. Strong talent for rolling minds and manipulating renfields. She loves having slaves. She can pass for human easily, her greatest strength. Other than that, no special abiltiies.

History: Born Betty Bukowski on a farm in Nebraska, the youngest of 8 kids, she promised herself she'd find a way out of the sticks. Her diligence in school paid off. Graduating at 16, she won a scholarship to the nursing school, and worked her way thru as a nanny. At 20, she headed out to California, where she got a job at one of the hospitals affiliated with UCLA. She promptly changed her name legally, had an expensive and complete makeover, and pursued her new career ardently: finding a doctor to marry. Rafael Hernandez came along when she was 23. He was a med student. She hooked him. They lived together for 2 years, then married when he headed toward San Francisco for his residency at Stanford. She promptly got pregnant. She had no desire to be a mother--her four years as a nanny had when cured her of any maternal impulses-- but she wanted a permanent hold over him.

Brittany wasn't entirely satisfied with her marital bargain. Rafael, while from a wealthy family--they owned two wineries in the Napa valley, as well as a ranch in the foothills--preferred a middle class lifestyle to the more lavish manner she liked. Their home was a pleasant three bedroom with a small heated pool and personal gym in a good neighborhood, but it wasn't the mansion she had in mind. She had a nanny and a cleaning service, but not the full-time live-in housekeeper she had wanted. And she was bored. Rafe's long hours as a resident left her with too much time on her hands. The marriage hit the rocks when Rafael found out about her infidelities; he went into counseling with her.

Then Brittany started to worry about her looks. She could see 30 looming on the horizon. And she discovered vampires. After brief flings with several, she found a master, who changed her. And she never looked back.

Rafael divorced her, and had the marriage annulled by the Catholic church. He moved to Maine with Luisa. Britt stayed in California for the first two years, until she met Pearse. She was recruited by him to work with clients. Brittany is now the vampire equivalent of a high-priced escort, a career she is eminently suited for.
