Character: Cameron Lane

Age: 32

Nature: Alpha (Master) Lycanthrope (Were-Lion)

Description: Cameron is 6' 1" tall and 215 lb.. He has dark brown hair, cut short, and light blue-gray eyes. His skin is lightly tanned from semi-regular outdoor activity. He is extremely well built from his dedication to exercise and his martial arts training, and very handsome. Typically, he dresses in the police detective's "uniform"; white shirt, tie, jacket, and slacks, except that all of Cameron's clothes are tailor made to accommodate his broad shoulders (and also his sidearm). He carries a Glock 10 mm in a shoulder holster under his left arm loaded with silver hollow-point bullets and two extra magazines; one silver and one cold iron, under his right arm. Cameron also wears a gold cross pin under the lapel of his jacket.

In were-form, Cameron is a huge, golden lion with bright amber eyes. Cameron is capable of partial shifting to varying degrees, but the first thing to change is always his eyes.

Personality: Although in his role as a policeman, Cameron tries to maintain a professional demeanor, his nature is one of protection and justice. Cameron's psychic and were senses give him a very accurate perception of the personality and emotional state of the people he meets. Thus, his attitude is usually appropriate to the person to whom he is talking; sympathetic to victims, friendly to those who are open, and rock calm to suspects. The only time this might change is close to the full moon, but Cameron has a will of iron, and it would take a great emotional distress for him to lose control.

Special Talents or Abilities: Cameron always had a touch of psychic ability. Nothing flashy, but with meditation and training, he learned how to open himself up to what he could do; such as, get a sense of a person's emotional state (he could always tell when they lied), his intuition was uncanny (flashes of insight and a better than even chance of a correct guess), and occasionally, an estimate of the power level of others.

Of course, now, all of that is overshadowed by Cameron's abilities as a master were. He has all of the strength, speed, stamina, and senses associated with lycanthropes; plus partial shifting, healing other weres through blood or energy, quieting a less powerful were's beast, and masking his own. His leonine senses supplement his psychic skills quite well, which seem to now work even better were lycanthropes are concerned. Perhaps Cameron's greatest talent though, has been to always land on his feet, both figuratively and now literally.

Background Info:  Born and raised in a foothills town in North Carolina, Cameron Lane's psychic empathy kicked in when he was twelve; unfortunately, young Cameron had no control, and his emotions would mimic those of who he was around. He quickly gained a reputation as "troubled." His father, a policeman, overheard a similar background from a fellow officer who claimed his martial arts training had reined him in. Cameron was in his first class the following Monday. Luckily, the sensei could truly sense the young boy's problem and gave him the proper training and control that he needed. Soon, Cameron gained a new reputation as "dedicated, focused, and perceptive."

After graduating from college with a double major in Criminal Justice and Psychology, Cameron joined the police force of Charlotte, NC. His natural skill and psychic ability enabled him to quickly rise to detective. When the Supernatural Crimes Division was created, Cameron was the only person to actually ask for the assignment. Over the years, he built up an impressive record of successful cases. Even the preternaturals respected him for his fair treatment as long as you obeyed the law.

Then, a few months ago, a were-lion came to town and started killing people. Cameron pumped him full of silver hollow-point bullets, but the lion mauled him pretty good before he finally fell. During the next full moon, the local pack helped him through his first change. All of his wounds healed on that first night, but Cameron took a leave of absence anyway while the Ulfric taught him about his new life. Cameron's prior training helped him learn very quickly, and soon he was ready to return to the force. But Cameron refused to succumb to the fear of prejudice, and although they could not legally fire him for being a lycanthrope, Cameron found that he could not stand the silent looks of what were once his partners and friends. And so, he decided to start over.

Cameron had met Jeff DuBois at a FBI conference on supernatural crime six months ago. They had both been rather disgusted at the prejudices shown by most of the officers present, and Cameron specifically remembered Jeff saying that he wished he had a lycanthrope on the force because it looked like they were having some kind of war in his city, but nobody was talking to the cops. As he picked up the phone and dialed, Cameron hoped things hadn't gone too badly and that Jeff was still as open-minded.

"What city please?"

"Sanctuary. I need the number for the Sanctuary Police Department."
