Appearance: Long gray hair worn back in a pony tale, tattoos up and down his body, big- 6’4, 250 (all of it muscle). Looks like a refugee from the Hell’s Angel’s. Right ear is pierce, wears heavy chains... He is French, but hardly has an accent. His background is obscure, but he a a powerful mage who knows how to keep his mouth shut. Etienne is the one who is also responsible for the protective spells. Since he is on-duty every night the club is open (every night except Wednesdays) and renews them almost daily, the spells are very strong and almost impossible to break.
Powers: Picatrix
This is one of the oldest existing Latin Grimoires from the medieval period. The version currently existing of this Grimoir is a Latin translation of an Arabic original that probably is translation of a Greek original. The Arab culture served as a guard for Greek and Roman works during the dark centuries when the church banned all speculation beyond the Apostolic Canon. The Arab tradition was much more tolerable towards the metaphysical thought and speculations. We can thank the Arab learned men that we still have some works of Plato, Aristotle and other philosophers still preserved today. The Greek and Latin works were retranslated to their original languages from Arabic manuscripts during the renaissance and Europe rediscovered what she always had. . Picatrix is classical Grimoir with spells and rituals for invoking ghosts, creating talismans, discovering treasures, etc. it discusses the nature of the demons and other spirits, mainly by the neo-platonistic school, and gives several ways of communicating with them. Besides its non-readability, and highly confusing and metaphorical language, this Grimoir is significant because it doesn't have as much Christian influence as many others, so we can trace the transformations of the magical thought.
Personality: Etienne is quiet, and despite his appearance, very serene..... He treats Silvana like his sister, and is constantly guarding all the employees from possible exploitation. He is everyone’s friend, and like a good barkeeper, a great listener.
Background: He appears to have none. Etienne is yet "another" of the MYSTERIOUS PEOPLE who wander around Sanctuary. In truth, though, his main goal in life is Immortality of the spirit. Etienne is a fixture- almost an institution. The only one capable of disturbing him is Gretchen Winters, Silvana’s Secretary.
