Keir

Characters Name: Keir

Writer: Yvonne

Email: dprono@planet.eon.net

Writers Age: Old enough

Characters Age: He's Fey.

Nature: Fey -- Kelpie

Appearance: 5'10, broad-shouldered and well-muscled, with curly black hair that hangs in loose spirals to his jaw, Keir can be rather imposing looking or rather attractive, depending on your tastes. His eyes are a bottomless black and his skin is darkly tanned. He moves gracefully and with purpose and steps lightly when he walks. Keir is usually caught wearing sweaters and jeans with large boots, although he sometimes can be found in button-down shirts or simple tees. Not overly fashion-conscious. He doesn't scream 'Other!' as loudly as Morin does. Occasionally he can even pass as a human. In his horse form he is a 16.5 hh unshod stallion, completely black with a long, flowing mane and tail and slightly pointed teeth. His tack (when he wears it) is either western, dyed black and studded with silver, or an old hackmore.

Personality: Seemingly introspective laid back, Keir actually a very violent, viscious side to him when provoked. He has a slightly dismissive attitude towards mortals, and anyone who was *ever* human is concidered a mortal in his mind. Slightly selfish and self-centered, his main concern is his comfort and amusement.

Abilities: When in horse form Keir has the ability to keep a rider on his back, no matter how badly they want off. He can swim like a fish and can breath underwater. His glamourie is averege in strength and a strong Master vampire, alpha, or witch could most likely shake it off. He can also do the work of several horses when inclined, and can influence water enough to keep a waterwheel running, or to destroy it totally.

Weaknesses: Like all Fey, he is vulnerable to iron, which will cut through his glamourie and leave red welts on his skin if he touches it, which take much longer to heal than an ordinary burn would. As a water sprite he has an aversion to open flames, and like legend, if someone is able to slip an enchanted bridle over his head while in horse form, he will become their slave. But beware; the minuit he gets free his revenge will be swift ... and bloody.

History: For many, many centuries Keir wandered through Scotland and England, playing tricks on mortals by either giving those foolish enough to dare ride him a sound dunking, or sometimes devouring them for their impertinance. Once or twice he stole the heart of a young girl, leaving her to pine for the rest of her days for the lad she had spotted, and perhaps talked with, by the banks of some lonely burn. At other times he would appear to a farmer and help him with his work, only to disappear a few days later never to be seen again, but talked of in hushed whispers for years to come.

At some point he met Morin, and the two became fast friends even though they sometimes would not see eachother for centuries at a time. They delighted in tormenting mortals, sometimes having Morin upon Keir's back while he was in horse shape, playing the wild stallion carrying off the frightened young girl. Sometimes they would drown helpless victims, other times reward them with piles of gold, some Fey and some real.

As the Iron Age came upon them they retreated farther and farther into Faerie, wary of the new weaponry and metals that cut through their enchantments like a sharp knife through spiderweb. Morin became restless, however, and left Faerie to see how the world outside changed. She came back with tales of metal monsters and wonderous factories that piqued the kelpie's curiosity enough to leave his homeland and follow her back into the mortal realm. They soon resumed their old tricks, but now they were more cautious as along with technology, awareness of the supernatural had increased.

It wasn't long until the New World, or the Americas, caught Morin's ever-flighty attention with it's depictions of savages and heroic cowboys. She was immediatly enchanted by the idea of a 'Wild West' and soon persuaded Keir to accompany her across the ocean. It was there that the mythical Green Woman was born under Morin's guise, Keir sometimes as her fleet mount, other times as her mysterious companion. They travelled across the contenant fighting duels, freeing villages, raiding wagon trains, and generally making a nuscence of themselves.
Morin turned her ever roving eyes toward the Vampiric Councils at this time, and occasionally became involved in their affairs. Keir followed after her but never pledged alleigance to anyone, choosing to aid them only when he decided to. Their mortal affairs didn't concern him, although he often enjoyed accompanying Morin in her bloodier assignments.
