Appearance: 5'10", 185 lbs. Sam has grizzled hair, cut short, light brown eyes. He looks powerful but as much of it is attitude as physical appearance. He sports a tattoo pre-lycanthrope days from his stint in Vietnam. That's also where he got infected with the lycanthropy virus.
History: After Vietnam and becoming a were, Sam wandered the US for a while, taking odd jobs and learning to deal with things. Then he met Margaret, fell in love, married, and settled down in Philadelphia for 10 years before moving to Maine with his wife and 3 boys. He's lived in Sanctuary since. His kids are in college or graduated. One is married. He bought the Crow's Nest 15 years ago. He's been running it as owner, cook, bartender...and even waiter and dishwasher as needed. His kids worked there too and the two younger ones still pitch in on weekends. They both attend UM.
Margaret died of cancer two years ago, so Sam has dealt with being a widower. He hasn't dated since her death. During the rat/wolf war, he took part in it, hurting others to satisfy his own anger over Margaret's death. He's regretted that since, and wonders what they were even fighting for...he suspects outside influences.
Talents/Weaknesses: Typical lycanthrope strength, speed, enhanced senses. He is one hell of a short order cook. He is also one of the surviving beta rats.
